Witnessing Her Last Fall

Synopsis

Li Meng's adolescence was shaped by dancing and time spent with Xiaobai around an outdoor pool. Their relationship developed inside a world where parental intervention could interrupt feelings they were not free to explore openly. Sixteen years later, Xiaobai returns to the same location while investigating a case. Professional attention becomes entangled with personal memory as the setting brings Li Meng back into emotional focus. The short film connects the process of examining an event with the less orderly work of remembering a relationship. Its time shifts allow the past to remain consequential without assuming that revisiting a place restores it. Xiaobai must encounter what happened through both the responsibilities of the present and the attachments that have survived the years between.
