The Little Sister

Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Fatima is the youngest of three daughters in a loving French-Algerian family. Beginning university in Paris gives her access to unfamiliar friendships, social spaces and possibilities for her future. It also brings her attraction to women into sharper focus. As she dates and explores this new world, Fatima must consider how the different parts of her life can exist together. Her desire for self-understanding does not erase her attachment to her family or the beliefs and loyalties she carries with her. Hafsia Herzi’s drama follows that negotiation through the perspective of a young woman learning to name what she wants. Coming out becomes an ongoing personal process rather than a single moment that automatically resolves every conflict.
