No Heaven, But LoveJu-young is a teenage taekwondo athlete in 1999 when she challenges harassment and abuse by her coach.
Ju-young is a teenage taekwondo athlete in 1999 when she challenges harassment and abuse by her coach. Refusing to accept his behavior brings pressure that threatens the security she has found through sport. Her connection with Ye-ji becomes a source of strength as the world around her seems willing to make resistance more costly than silence. The film follows young women discovering what love and solidarity can mean under conditions that do not reward either. Their relationship offers support without removing the institutional power they face. Ju-young must navigate anger, fear, and the consequences of speaking out, while the bond between the girls creates the possibility of imagining a life not entirely organized by the people who have tried to control them.
