Enemies with BenefitsLal, who leads a sales department, is determined not to let Wine, the head of accounting, gain the upper hand.
Lal, who leads a sales department, is determined not to let Wine, the head of accounting, gain the upper hand. Their professional rivalry gives both women reasons to interpret the other's actions as a challenge. After an impulsive night changes the relationship, they agree to keep their physical connection hidden behind the familiar appearance of hostility. Maintaining that performance requires increasing effort as closeness begins to produce feelings neither has planned for. The workplace romance follows the difference between controlling an arrangement and controlling what it means. Their antagonism may protect the secret from colleagues, but it also makes honest communication harder. The women must decide whether continuing to act like enemies is worth the risk of misunderstanding a relationship that is becoming important to them.
The secrecy depends on their colleagues continuing to believe in a conflict that has become partly a performance. That arrangement offers cover, but also permits hurtful words and defensive behavior to remain unchallenged because they can be dismissed as part of the act. Lal and Wine must therefore learn to recognize when maintaining control of their public image is damaging their private understanding. Their professional opposition does not disappear automatically as affection grows; differences that once made them competitors still have to be negotiated. The romance becomes a question of whether they can replace an agreement based on concealment with something that gives both women a voice, rather than expecting emotional commitment to emerge without changing the rules through which they first became close.
