Cicadas

Synopsis

Two schoolgirls break away from a dull field trip and enter a forest where they meet another girl who does not attend their school. The encounter creates a temporary world outside the rules and routines that normally organize their day. Exploring together allows curiosity and attraction to emerge before anyone has agreed on what the connection means. The short film follows a brief interruption of ordinary adolescence, making the unfamiliar landscape part of the girls' emotional discovery. Their different experiences create possibilities for recognition as well as misunderstanding. The day cannot necessarily become a permanent escape, but its intensity gives the encounter significance beyond its duration, raising the question of what can be learned about oneself when the usual audience and expectations are briefly left behind.
