Jie and Hsuan have built a relationship around the expectation of growing old together, but Jie becomes involved with someone she experiences as an immediate and powerful new love. The affair forces her to compare the intensity of a recent encounter with the history and commitment of her existing partnership. Neither feeling can be reduced to a simple measure of authenticity. The short film follows the uncertainty created when the idea of a destined partner becomes a way of questioning promises already made. Jie must consider whether the force of attraction offers reliable knowledge about a future, or whether it obscures the responsibilities attached to her choices. The story places romantic certainty under pressure by showing how easily competing versions of the right person can emerge.
