A Room of One's OwnAhyeon and Hyunjung are married and raising their teenage daughter Jiwoo in an imagined future South Korea where same-sex marriage has become legal.
Ahyeon and Hyunjung are married and raising their teenage daughter Jiwoo in an imagined future South Korea where same-sex marriage has become legal. Their shared family life still contains ordinary disagreements about education, privacy, and how much guidance a young person needs. A discovery concerning Jiwoo's developing sexuality challenges both mothers' confidence in their approach. The short film follows parents learning that familiarity with adult desire does not automatically make conversations with a teenager easy. Different instincts about protection and openness must be negotiated without treating the daughter as a problem to solve. Its future setting allows the family to begin from legal recognition and then explore the everyday work beyond it: listening, respecting boundaries, and accepting that care sometimes requires reconsidering one's own assumptions.
